According to chatter on Twitter, hackers have disabled the website of the CBS network. It’s not clear whether they’ve compromised the archives, or just defaced the website – or, for that matter, what the attack is in retaliation for.
Some sources on Twitter are attributing the attack to hacktivist group Anonymous.
Update: Minutes later, the site is back up. Spokespersons affiliated with Anonymous are claiming responsibility with the tag #OpMegaUpload. @jeremiahfelt writes:
“Anonymous did not take down #CBS .com ; the IP for their web host changed from 92.122.127.27 to 198.99.118.36 & 37; looks like poisoned DNS”
The attack is starting to get coverage. And the National Journal notes that some Anonymous spokespersons implied Fox might be the next target.

This post is the only “reporting” I can immediately find on it. Dated 7 am this morning? Maybe a different time zone. I first heard about it through an Occupy-related account. http://thehackernews.com/2012/01/cbs-broadcasting-hacked-by-anonymous.html
Gizmodo has a blurb now: http://gizmodo.com/5878238/anonymous-deleted-cbscom
